POP support in Archiveopteryx
Archiveopteryx has supported POP3 since 1.01.
We support POP (and a few useful extensions) only for compatibility
with existing POP clients. But POP isn't well-suited to managing large
mail archives, so our focus is on IMAP instead.
Interoperability
-
Evolution is routinely used with Archiveopteryx. No known problems
as of 2.0 in June 2007.
-
Fetchmail has been tested in June 2007 with Archiveopteryx 2.0,
with no problems.
- Mutt has been tested
in June 2007 with Archiveopteryx 2.01, with no problems.
POP extensions
We support the following extensions:
- STLS offers protection against network snooping. Archiveopteryx
uses Cryptlib to
implement TLS.
- AUTH=DIGEST-MD5 and other SASL authentication mechanisms are
supported, ranging from anonymous login to snoop-safe, replay-safe,
challenge/request logins.
